Community Activists support my campaign

Published in the Camden New Journal on 31 July, 2014

We want Raj Chada as candidate

We write to support Raj Chada being selected as the new Labour candidate in Holborn & St Pancras.

All of us have worked or volunteered in a wide range of local groups from chairing community groups, being on school governing bodies or active in tenant and resident associations.

All of us have had cause to thank Frank Dobson for the enormous amount of work that he has done on our behalf over the last three decades.

His commitment to the local area will be a hard act to follow.

As the Labour Party start their selection process it is not surprising in this constituency that that we have such a high calibre of potential replacements. However we believe whoever is selected it is essential that they have shown their commitment to the local community and to have the potential to represent us on the national stage.

All of us work hard in this community and we know some of the people in the frame.

That is why, while we acknowledge that this is a Labour Party decision (and not all of us are Labour members), we hope that the party select Raj.

He has helped community organisations here for nearly 15 years, while being a nationally renowned and radical lawyer. This is a unique mix and meets our criteria for a community and campaigning MP who will speak for us nationally.
